There was a need for new shower rooms for the staff at Brussels Airport. These were first described in the tender documents using the classic construction method: brick walls - screed - classic waterproofing. The planning for this was 3 months. This was to be built in an old office building. Together with the contractor and the client, we looked at the work in the context of circularity. How can we use less building materials? = less waste on site - less relocation of companies. We made a price study with wedi, which was free of charge. The budget was more favourable for the contractor to have it prefabricated in wedi. The wedi shower base, walls and technical wall were prefabricated according to plan - 1 delivery - installation time for wedi 30 shower cubicles = 5 working days Total completion time = 15 working days - a saving of 45 working days. Production of the wedi element is carried out in an EU-certified ISO plant. wedi uses no hazardous substances during production and manufacturing takes place in a CO2-neutral plant. The building system is 100% waterproof, insulating and decoupling in one building step.
