Steenbakkerij Vande Moortel

Maximizing use of surplus land as a primary raw material

Construction projects regularly release large volumes of primary raw material, which Vande Moortel can potentially use to produce facing bricks and clay clinkers. This means a win-win for both the brick industry and construction promoters. However, these soils still too often end up in the waste cycle. Moreover, they do not always meet the strict quality requirements of the brickyard, for example because of the risk of concrete fragments originating from previous construction. This project focuses on facilitating the reuse and upgrading of excavated soil. This is done in direct dialogue with building promoters and executing contractors.
