The OCMW of Roeselare has 141 houses for asylum seekers. On average, there is a partial refurbishment (of furniture and white goods) every six months. A lot of materials are actually lost during this process, because:
With this project, we want to test how this can be done differently, better, more circularly. With a unique multilayered local partnership (with OCMW, traders, social economy...) we test the feasibility of furnishing the OCMW houses in a circular way (with, among others, as-a-service models) with furniture and white goods. We also want to extend the suitability assessment of materials within the PCSW patrimony through more repairs and structural maintenance. As a result, a large proportion of the materials that now end up on the rubbish heap too quickly will be given a longer life. At the same time, we will examine how we can strengthen the skills of the inhabitants so that the materials and appliances last longer.
