Joinery with recycled post-consumer aluminium

Sky Towers is an exclusive high-rise project in Ostend that will redefine the skyline of the queen of seaside resorts. Hydro CIRCAL aluminium profiles will be used for the joinery. The alloy consists of at least 75% recycled post-consumer aluminium, recovered from demolition works such as windows and facades of existing buildings. This reduces the impact of the production process and keeps the enormous amount of aluminium in the current building stock in use. After all, aluminium is infinitely upcyclable or recyclable without loss of quality.
The Hydro CIRCAL production process is fully traceable and the product is certified by an independent body (DNV-GL), currently the highest level in the market.
The melting of end-of-life aluminium requires only 5% of the energy required for the production of primary aluminium and CO2 emissions are six times lower.
The joinery of the Sky Towers will therefore have a significantly lower CO2 footprint than if it were made from primary aluminium. How much exactly, will Hydro Building Systems Belgium calculate as part of their pilot project for the Green Deal Circular Building.
