In August 2020, DENC!-STUDIO moved to a new office, namely LOODS 23 in the Ghent outer port. This building can safely be called 'circular avant la lettre'. During the construction of this riveted steel frame warehouse - at the end of the 19th century - materials were already recovered from the Antwerp World Fair in 1885. DENC-STUDIO continued to work on this circular basis and chose a variety of circular products and techniques for the interior design. For example, the shed has a reversible, bio-ecologically sound FSC wood construction infill and innovative applications from circular start-ups are employed. All materials used are mapped and traceable via a BIM model.
DENC-STUDIO is convinced that we need to spread circular thinking to the maximum and too often hot water is still being invented. Therefore, they put strong emphasis on knowledge dissemination through their website, open days and training days. They made a complete news series about the design of LOODS 23 'walk the talk', which can be consulted on their website. The project won prizes and received the Belgian Building Award 2021 Circular Building (https://www.circubuild.be/nl/nieuws/de-14-circulaire-winnaars-en-mijlpalen-van-2021/).
